Wulfenite is a secondary mineral formed in the oxidation zone of ore deposits containing lead and molybdenum.
The lead molybdenum mineral wulfenite (PbMoOP) is a minor ore of lead and molybdenum that occurs in the oxidized zone of lead deposits.
It forms brilliant yellow, orange, and reddish, square, tabular crystals (tetragonal system) and granular masses. The streak is white.
The luster is resinous to adamantine.
It was named after F X Wulffen (1728-1805) an Austrian mineralogist. |
