The religion of the Goddess has been called both polytheistic and monotheistic at the same time. The Goddess is polytheistic in that she has so many names and forms. She is also monotheistic in that the are all symbols of the single Great Mother, the Creator of All. Joseph Campbell, the historian and mythologist, calls this syncretism.   Read More...
The pentagram, or five-pointed star, may be the most misunderstood religious symbol around these days. Being the most common symbol of Neo-Pagan Witchcraft, it has nevertheless been denigrated by movie and publishing industries which seem 'hell-bent' on connecting it with Satanism and other malevolent practices. However, like the Roman Cross or Crucifix, it is only when the symbol is INVERTED that it alludes to negativity. And even then, there are exceptions, as we shall see.   Read More...

We all practise magick and reap the rewards after all. But sometimes magick goes slightly off track and someone out there seems to have it in for you, for me that was Hecate! Even when the going gets tough, the rewards at the end are the best ever and are worth every bit of effort!!

To honour yourself is to honour Lord and Lady, by first being happy with who we are as a person, and then by being part of a relationship as two happy whole individuals who compliment one another, we honour and please them.   Read More...

The kind of magic that is performed in a ritual is done so with the use of spells. Though no one actually knows if it works.

Magicians who perform magic in this form usually make use of a memorized script with the appropriate spell, activity and motions that should be done. Those who practice the occult have claimed that performing this type of magic is a lot more similar to car driving. If the directions are followed appropriately, you could actually get to your destination and so the magic could work. But still, there is no one hundred percent guarantee.

I have a chronic illness and all the healing magic, alternative medicines, herbs or conventional medicine can’t make a lick of difference. My illness, while chronic and incurable, is also non-life threatening which is good. but does mean I’m in constant pain and always suffering from differing levels of fatigue. This can make it difficult to be active in pagan life. Camps and gatherings are often too much to cope with. Going for a hike is right out. A simple walk in a park can be drainin

“The Goddess dwells within the center of our beings, deep within the collective unconscious of humankind.” -- D.J ConwayA figurine rests on my altar, molded from red earthy clay. I painted her gold and carved on wavy lines, shaped arms, head and torso. Her closed eyes conceal mystery and inner wisdom. The clay goddess embodies the Divine Feminine. To me, spirituality is a spiritual relationship with the Divine Feminine. The Goddess Brighid reflects qualities in me, who I am and what I am

Flowers come in an astonishing array of colors, scents and forms-botanists estimate there are more than 240, 000 types of flowering plants in the world. Although we primarily appreciate flowers for their uplifting effects on the spirit and psyche, many flowers also contain a wealth of healing compounds with measurable effects on the body and mind. The pigments that provide flowers with their bright colors, the molecules that give them their unique scents, and even the compounds that help

Paganism is earth based, especially Neo-Paganism. I realize that in this day and age, it’s easy to say that Pagan spirituality is based on the self, or higher non-physical forces, and is removed from nature. I personally believe this to be false. This is why: The definition of Paganism has changed, will continue to change, and be the source of many debates. Originally, as I’m sure many of you know, it meant a ‘country dweller’ someone whose life and faith patterned after nature – usually

As a Pagan who has felt the crisis of the economy hit home, I give a greater thanks for all the small things that I had not given thought to before. As I watch a national poverty and unemployment line go from bad to worse, I am more thankful to have a roof over my head. There is no choice for many but to stretch their already savvy shopping habits. Many feel the pinch in the world. In this essay I will share my personal experience, perceptions, and creative resolutions in dealing with the sinkin

I view my life in two parts. The first part of my life is when I lived and thought like everyone else. There was always piece of me that wanted to walk away from the world, from the rat race. My main concern, back then, was what would other people think of me? I know that most people would like to walk away and not worry about the day-to-day grind, but what have they done to really get away from it? I used to worry about money, a house, a car, paying the bills and eating. Not to mention all of t

It seems like more and more, I see Pagans obsessing over their offerings to a ridiculous level. Not that I don’t think an offering or sacrifice should be undertaken willy-nilly, but to only offer that exclusive, high end wine to the exception of all else seems silly. I feel that offerings should be heartfelt and personal… not something to worry and fret over, something you enjoy doing because it’s good and you can.Recently, I was on a Pagan forum (alas, my main source of Pagan fellowship

Nearly seventy-five years ago, James Hilton imagined a magical city based upon Tibet’s version of the Garden of Eden, Shambhala (Berzin) . His book, The Lost Horizon, inspired Theodore Roosevelt to name the presidential retreat in its honor. Today, there are many, who like Hilton, envision a population of enlightened people who create a sustainable, balanced community in which the environment thrives ecologically, spiritually and culturally. If it can be imagined, it can be made manifest.
