My journey in Wicca Written by Liz
2007 started off the same as any other year for me, promises to myself to loose weight and to explore spirituality, what turned out different though, is that I actually did start exploring my spirituality and it has lead me to Wiccan. I know it sounds corny, but I somehow feel whole now, even though I have not explored this as much as I need or want too, as yet.
I work with a Hindu friend, who has turned out to be a very special person in my spiritual uplifting, she showed me a technique on how to meditate, which I started in January. I meditate daily.
Two weeks ago, I popped to the shops to get some necessary groceries, milk, bread etc.. It was almost 19:00 at night, but I noticed that the second hand book shop was still open, so I went in to browse. I found a book ‘To ride a silver broomstick’ written by Silver Ravenwolf, and I felt drawn. I had always wondered about Wiccan and had tried looking into it a few years ago, I realize now that I wasn’t ready then and probably would not have seen things for what they are and would have not given it the effort it needs. I truly believe that things happen for a reason. I also believe that the person that sold the book to the second hand store, no longer needed it, and realized that there was somebody else out there who could benefit greatly from it. I have a very strong feeling that the book was there waiting for me. Does that sound strange?
I am a reader, but I tend to read fiction as I don’t learn well from reading, I am a better learner by watching someone or doing something myself. But in this case, I have learnt a lot from the book so far. I read a little every day and every day I learn something new.
I have made contact with Mawu, and intend to go there soon to talk to someone, I am hoping that I can find someone to guide me further.
I have tried some spells from Silver Ravenwolf’s book, which have worked. I tried with visualizing a parking space as I was driving to a shopping centre, I have tried this four times and I have got the parking I wanted every time, that’s more than a coincidence.
I am in awe of the power that is within me. For a seasoned witch, I’m sure I sound like a child at Christmas time, but I am really excited, I have a underlying bubbling sensation, I feel like a child at Christmas time. I think the world could be a better place if everyone was aware of the power within them (and meditated daily).
I have also started my Book of shadows. I have just bought an inexpensive book to write in for now, until I learn more and have more of an idea of what I am doing.
So, in ending, I am still very much in the dark and have only seen a little of what is possible, but I am looking forward to my journey and am willing to share with you as I go along. I’m positive I will have a few stories to tell on my way!
