Hi everybody!
I'm new to the community and happy to have joined.
I have just received my first Tarot Deck from a friend and am excited to begin. Unfortunately I have been warned by someone that I cannot use the new tarot deck as it will attract "bad energies" and that I should give the deck to her for cleansing.
Could anyone please let me know whether this is true and whether it would be advisable to cleanse the deck myself, or whether it is okay to hand it over to her.
Any guidance will be appreciated |

Greetings and a warm welcome
As far as I know it is better for you to cleanse your own tarot deck I have mine for a while now and cleansed and consecrate is myself with no ill affects.
You might want to look at how to cleanse it

I must be honest with you if your gut feeling tell you to give it to your friend for cleansing do it, but you must always remember to charge your card with your personal energy before you use them for a reading
I hope this answer your question
May the night sky fill you with love and understanding

Hi Jovonne,
Welcome to Dragon's Den.
As Ladyhawk mentioned you can cleanse the deck yourself, in fact i would strongly suggest you learn to do it even if you ask someone else to cleanse it the first time; since you will be cleansing it regularly. but it's also important to remember that whenever the deck is handled by someone else that persons energies will bind with the cards so they need to be charged with your own energies before every use, this is especially true when someone else focuses thier energy on the cards such as when doing a cleansing.
Personally I would not let someone else cleanse my cards, not unless I knew them well and trusted them completely.

Thank you for the guidance. I would definitely prefer to cleanse the deck myself, as it makes absolute sense (as you said) that she would transfer her energies to the deck.
Thank you for the link. I will make sure to check it out. Any suggestions as to a preferred method of cleansing?
Regretfully I know more about cleansing crystals than about cards. |

Hi Jovonne, this is from another thread on the forum, maybe it will point you in the right direction.
Ladyhawk wrote First determind which is your dominant hand. Hold the stack of cards in your other hand, (the hand wich receives energy). Form a fist with your dominant hand and tap your knuckles once firmly on top of the cards. This sends white light through the cards, clearing them of energies. Then you should touch each card with your dominant hand you can pull the cards one by one from your receptive hand into your dominant hand. Then fan your card out and center yourself. Then say your intentions for the cards. . |
