Portrait of a Lady
A lady never staggers
stumbles or mumbles.
A lady is never uncouth.
She wears an air of grace,
of solitary beauty
and never drinks, but sips from her cup.
A lady steps out elegantly
and enters with sweet charm,
and she will always be
truthfully sincere.
When a lady smiles
the ocean must calm itself
and when she cries
a river shall nestle her sorrow -
and all this she does
without considering herself
but always the fortune of others.
A lady touches hearts,
mends souls
and comforts nations;
she is never selfish
and always worthy of praise.
A lady is never shallow
and never profound;
her children adore her
and her man
is ready with both arms to hold her,
even when she is able to stand on her own.
A lady, my dear,
is born.
Her ways are not learnt
from books or from pamphlets
yet her education is decent enough
to communicate with others.
This is the portrait of a lady:
She paints herself
without effort
and with great skill
granted by the Almighty.
