HELPS BEING A FAERIE WHEN YOU TALK TO THEM
Modified By Nico Redelinghuys on 1/12/2009 12:08:12 PM)

As I'm looking outside my office Window, I have a wonderful view all the way over Kelvin up to Woodmead N1. . . under normal circumstances!

However, as I peer out towards the .... west-ish direction I can only see blurry gobbledee-gook and my window is dripping with rain.

Most of you would know that this weather's been going on since approximately Friday with scattered showers, isolated showers, eminent showers, passing showers and of course just plain SHOWERS. The reason I am reporting the obvious to you, is actually because of the (not so obvious) experience I had had during one of these light showers over the past weekend.

So there I was, walking around my garden to take a quick squizz at what's to be done while the rain is out. I couldn't go mowing the lawn as that would be a futile and very arduous exercise. Weeding is very time consuming and by the time I would have weeded half a meter the rain may or may not have come down even more and got me soaked. This left me to wander around my little space shirtess, tool-less and lost for action. Naturally my mind started wandering...

I realised that the garden is in need of some decent rain. Our tap water is just way to infested with chlorine and not helping much in getting my petunias back in bloom (not to mention the damage done by the snail colony hiding in my agapanthus!). So I decided I should mention again to the Fay in my garden that I would like them to send me some of the rain we were experiencing at that particular moment, for at least seven days. Just enough to get my garden rearing and roaring again. I asked them to pass the message on to the Sylphs and the Nymphs.

Clearly they were listening! Just look at the marvellous showers we been having today! HeeHee!

I guess if you're a Faerie yourself, it's much easier to talk to the Faeries and ask their assistance. Now, anybody got any practical suggestions on how I can show my gratitude to them?

Well, at least now I know who to thank for the "shower" I got this morning, the whole time I'm getting ready there is a light drizzle outside, that is until the moment I walk out the door, suddenly the heavens open up and a deluge starts raining down, I realise that waiting is probably futile so I rush to the car and the relative safety of the car port.

After placing my laptop into the boot, I resign myself to the fact that I still have not had the gate motor installed, which means have no option but to open the gate myself, in the pouring rain. At least the tree at the corner offers me some protection while I unlock the gate, but not much while I'm opening it.

Rather wet and miserable I rush to the car, I get in and back out of the gate, and as if the deluge already coming down was just a prelude to what is yet to come, the rain starts coming down in solid sheets thundering down on my cars roof. Realising I have no choice I take a deep breath, jump out of the car, and close the gate as fast as I can. Jumping back in the car I’m now soaking wet, and cold.

Sitting in the car for a few minutes I find something to dry myself of just enough to stop dripping, and as I shift into gear to drive off still soaking wet, cold and miserable... the rain stops.

Back on topic though, I’ve got an article somewhere about creating a corner in your garden to “house” Faeries, it’s always a good idea to make them their own little corner in the garden with the right kind of plants etc, and the you can leave some food out in this area for them from time to time, usually wine and cake.

Gosh... Sorry Ammon! I hope you're nice and cozy now. Have some ginger tea - it will help curb any and all small infections like an impending sore throat which is the first sign of the onset of a cold. Remember: prevention is better than cure!

I will most certainly go hunt down your article about the Faerie Housing Scheme. It most definitely will be a very welcome thing for my garden! Thank you!
