Pushing christianity

Merry meet to you all out there once again!

My 4 yr old son is getting really confused as at home we of course have our food blessing with "so mote it be" at the end, but at creche it is the christian "grace" with amen.  They are STILL reading bible stories to the kids and singing christian hymns.  I am sorry but this is infuriating to me!

He is definitly a witchling from throwing energy balls to knowing the quarters and where they are.  He is also very intuitive.  He makes me SO proud.

While on the other hand I have my 12 yr old daughter who shows alot of potential and interest but due to pressures from school and from my ex, she seems to stick to her bible and graces like clockwork.

Schools today are not allowed to teach bible ed or religious Instruc. but they still make up for this in their assemblies and classrooms.  I feel outraged when it comes to this and when the ex has her with him every 2nd weekend, it helps NOTHING when he takes her to RHEMA 'nogal!'

I do not allow my rage to show as it might do more damage than good and I want my children to be able to feel free enough to make their own choices in their lives.  I cannot force any choices onto them, only guidance but it is really difficult for me in that I have to contend with outside influences.

The path we all chose is by no means an easy one and we are constantly battling the blinded christians but this is really the pits!

Yes, I have my back up once again and I have to practice my patience with alot of grounding involved but I am sure that I am not the only one out there.

By-the-way, all my friends and family know what my beliefs are and although they might not agree with it, they respect my right to make my own choices.  I am also a very proud witch!

Needed to vent this and thanks for bearing with me

BB

Joan

Re: Pushing christianity

Hi Joan,

I know how you feel, it’s always a difficult balance to not only allow our children to choose their own path, but also prevent their path from being chosen for them by schools and other “well meaning” people. To us it’s very important that our children choose their own path, whatever it may be so it frustrates us immensely when “Christianity” is forced down their throats.

One of the things we do is to answer questions they have about Christianity as truthfully as we can based on what we believe, so when asked about Jesus we make sure to explain that although Jesus was a very good man with a number of very important lessons to teach humanity in his time.

Having grown up going to church every Sunday (well being dropped of at the front door of the church every Sunday morning ant least) I know every trick the church tends to pull to convert people so I quickly nail any such issues down with my kids without allowing them to be indoctrinated.

There is a reason the church calls it doctrine.

"Life's journey is not to arrive at the end safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways totally worn out shouting, "holy sh*t...what a ride!"

Re: Pushing christianity

I come from a long line of wic's. my gran went to church did the bake sales an all that, once she found my dads lost dog with  divination, i dont remember how to spell yuiga bord, wyga, agg any how he didnt follow the path, his sister didnt, but here i am also hiding my FAITH.

Im not reallly wiccan, i dont have much regard for religion but i fought a big war at school. i was verry open about what i believed and they gave me hell for it, back then i was a wiccan, these days I tend to pray to the 1 0 , the male and female, if you will, the spirit of life itself, rather then to show reverence to any religion, i follow my hart.

Im not a father but I can say this SO MOTE IT BE  meens the same as AMEN.

my father let me make that choice myself and i think i found my home, dont be worry about your childs choices in religion, rather teach her good values, self respect and they wont be able to sway her.

Re: Pushing christianity
My son's creche also teaches them a lot about christianity. Its unfortunately something I think we just have to deal with until someone decides to open a Pagan creche. I must admit I have no problems with him learning about christianity and other religions in fact I insist upon it if he is ever to find his true path in life. Of course I would like him to follow the same path as me but that might not be whats right for him. At the end of the day all we can hope to do is give them the information to let them make an informed decision.

Re: Pushing christianity

Merry Meet to those I Have not yet met

Indeed it does infuriate us all at times, and christians do ever so often have very stange views on certain subjects, but we all have to realize is country was ruled, gouverned and built mostly by christians. We could only start practicing our believe quite recently and that to took time. Change is happening and we can see it every day, but change has its own time, and we are but flecks in the grater scale of our individual gods and goddess`

But one thing i have seen many a time, is that u can guide ppl only that far and then they make their own choice. If u take how many christians only recently started to change their faith to paganism, u can see ppl follow there own path and it normally has their best fortune in site, and please do remember that these people whom are changing there religions was raised as christians.

To each his own, I to get mad at these fools sometimes, but is is up to them if and when they eventually do open their eyes.

You say that your kids do have the touch,,, then if they are brought up to care for it then i doubt any-one will convince them otherwise.

In ten years from now, many things might have changed., Paganism might even be the rulling religion

Blessed be
