Hi, I'm new to this website and i think I've found it just in time! I love it, thank you!! My seven year old daughter attends a Waldorf School which has no religious system, unlike the gvt schools where the children are forced to pray everyday. We recently had a parent's meeting where her teacher (who is Christian) said that it's important for children to know religeon and attend church. Although a wiccan, I've always believed that it's important for my daughter to decide, when she's older, what she would like to believe in and find her own spiritual path without any undue influence and brain washing. My concern now is that if I don't explain my belief system to her now, she will be influenced by her teacher in this regard - something I definitely don't want right now. I and other parents are totally against this and we've told the teacher, but children of this age are easily influenced especially by those they trust and we don't always know what goes on in the classroom. Should I introduce her to a taste of paganism. She was active in our last handfasting ceremony and her brother's baby naming ceremony, but i don't want to be guilty of brainwashing - this is exactly what i;ve tried to avoid. Does anyone have any advice or input as to what I should do? I would really appreciate it! |
